Center Point Energy complaint
On May 8th our gas was turned off, we actually didn't know it was turned off because our bill was paid on April 30th. In shock we pulled up our bank account online. Well there was our payment, cleared on the 1st of May. Armed with this information we call Center Point - Arkla Gas we figure somebody made a mistake here but they would be willing to to take care of it right away once they relized they already had our payment. Boy were we wrong! We make our payment they same way we have always paid, we go to their web site and use the BillMatrix on THEIR web site. Apparently even when you make your payment if for whatever reason it did not post to the right account,it got stuck somewhere in Arkla's vast computer space...well its still your fault. This is what I was told. Even though my payment was made, cleared my account it, shows up on my bank statement as going to Center Point Energy- Arkla . Yet this is my fault and I now have to pay a reconnect fee of $ 70.00 now to boot! So after speaking with three equally rude ladies it is now determined that this is not and cannot possibly be Center Pint Energy's fault, it must be my fault because when processing my payment my "little fingers must have left off the last -2" this is exactly what I was told. So now its Friday, I have no gas, now way to get gas until I remit and pay this 70.00 that I somehow do not owe but now owe because a computer error and even if I do give in and pay this I cant have gas until next week. Something is really wrong here, gone are the days where the customer is always right, even if the customer is right. As of yesterday they had no knowledge of my payment and I would have to pay the whole bill again, the 70.00 and submit a claim for remittance which would track down my payment (takes 10-15 days) although now at least today they now have some knowledge of my payment so I will only be out 70.00. Amazing isn't it! All I can say is I am one unhappy customer and now going to be out more money than what my bill was to begin with, aren't our bills already high enough? Is this Arlka's new way to make money? Well I have some good news to report1 After calling our complaint line against utility companies, a couple hours latter and I recieved a call and guess what? They are turning my gas back on today...without all they fee's they tried to make me pay! Go figure! I hope other people read this and take note!
